I don’t know about you, but I am always so happy to come home after a vacation, get things organized, get back into my routine, and sleep in my own bed. I had a wonderful vacation but I’m now home and looking forward to getting eating home-cooked meals and getting miss Ruby back on her regular schedule. I’m also starting to decorate for Valentine’s day and today I’m sharing my first Valentine’s craft of the season: leather heart cut-out art.
I dreamed this piece up after I had a bunch of leather scraps left over from Ruby’s rocking horse. They were so pretty, and I was just hanging on to them until I figured out what to use them for. I wanted to do something modern and clean for a heart-themed art piece, and thought using leather would be a bit unconventional and unexpected. And peeps, this project was easy and cheap. A great combination, right there.
Check out the video tutorial (shot and edited by the wonderful James Young).
Did you catch the blooper at the end? Love when James surprises me and sneaks one in:)
What unconventional materials have you used for holiday decorating?
PS: check out my sweet interview on House of Earnest about why I started “creating,” as she puts it. Thanks Erin!
LOVEE!!! I am a sucker for v-day decor and these are definitely something I’d keep up all year. Definitely will share on my blog!
