We’re well into the new year, and as with every year, the change in calendar date brings with it new design trends. We at Stagg Design are loving what 2020 has brought to the {coffee} table. Here’s our ode to the new year and why we’re all in when it comes to trends for the year ahead.
Trend 1: Earth Tones
Earth tones have long held the hearts of Team Stagg Design. Our latest Pillow Collection over on the Shop is all about earthy, ground colors and we love a space that has that pull of nature in the color palette. We expect to see this trend soar in 2020, with muddy greens, warm beiges, inky blues, rusty orange, and putty pink.
We’ve pulled together some of our favorite paint colors for this year, and each one pairs perfectly with our current Stagg Design Shop pillows.
Trend 2: Handmade Tile
There will always be a place for a classic porcelain subway tile, but carefully handmade tiles with all of their glorious flaws and waves are a trend we can’t get enough of. In fact, we’re breaking some major rules and sharing a sneak peek of Project Desert Escape to show you how we used this trend in our most recent client home. (the reveals for this project start super duper soon and we can’t wait!)
Trend 3: Wood in this kitchen
We don’t think the all white kitchen is going away, but look for more wood incorporated into cabinetry. A large kitchen island, a butcher block countertop, or in smaller doses with wood open shelving, this trend instantly warms up a space and makes it feel inviting and comfortable.
Trend 4: Mixed Textures and Fabrics
Layering materials is something we pride ourselves on nailing for our clients. We love using velvet, linen, tweed, wood, metal, concrete, marble, you name it, all in the same space. This trend gives your home that sophisticated feel, rather than everything being so matchy-matchy.
Trend 5: Imperfection
Vintage artwork with a knicked frame, a family heirloom that you’re giving new life, a lucky thrift store score that injects some soul into a room– this is something our firm is known for. We love those flaws that reveal who a family is, and we work hard to plant little “easter eggs” around a home that say hey, real living breathing humans live here.
We’ve got a jam packed next few weeks around these parts with the reveal of Project Desert Escape, and a new guide dropping soon. Stick around!
