Hosting Thanksgiving this year? Believe it or not I truly love setting a table for a big family gathering. Today I’m sharing all of my best tips to help your table look as good as the meal tastes.
Tip # 1: Start with a neutral base. I bought these standard floor length tablecloths years ago and they’ve served me well. They wash well and class things up! I also love these chair covers for folding chairs.
Tip # 2: Greens! I always add greenery to my tables, and often it’s from my own yard. Give your shrubs a trim (free!!) and place them down the center of your table. A green bouquet from Costco or Trader Joe’s does the trick too.
Tip # 3: Layer in brass candle sticks and tea lights. Battery operated tea lights can be used again and again!
Tip #4: Don’t have enough uniform place settings? Hit the thrift store! I love glasses and dishes in different shapes and sizes. Just stock with the same color scheme for a collected look.
Tip #5: Disposable paper placemats are one of my favorite tricks. Keeps the table clean and adds in a fun pattern. (Try these buffalo check ones!)
Tip # 6: Fruit— like apples or citrus— add interest and fragrance for little to no cost (those apples are from my neighbor’s tree!)
Tip #7: Plan a kids table activity. Coloring pages as placemats, butcher paper tablecloth with crayons, etc. This year I’m doing these turkey stickers.
Tip # 8: Set the tables up the night before. Save day of for food prep and get all the decor done the night before!
Bonus Tip! I love adding something sweet to the table whether it’s individual chocolates on each plate, or candy scattered on the table.
Hope these tips help make planning your holiday tablescapes a little easier!
