Cool is the word I use to describe the basement at the Parade Home we recently designed. It’s modern yet inviting, and has a mix of materials and textures that keeps it interesting and warm. I’m excited to show you the Parade Home Basement Family room today and I’m sure you’ll have a million good adjectives to describe it.
I had a clear vision for this basement. I wanted to make it feel lived in even though it was a home no one actually lived in, as it is with the Parade. To accomplish that, we needed to add in some old. Some retro. Some nostalgia.
We added in some vintage records and a record player to counter balance the tv. Two large consoles along the wall added some styling opportunities and more balance to the space.
I really pushed the mixed materials down here. Leather chairs, a tweed sofa, concrete coffee table, a lot of different woods. All of that together is what gives the room that lived in feel.
Behind the family room there’s a kitchenette, adding to the cool tones.
I love the gray wood tones mixed with the white and leather on the barstools.
Our Stagg Design pillows look right at home on the sofa and bring in some subtle color and texture. Featured is the Velvet in Meadow and the Spruce in Winter White.
Just opposite the kitchenette is a game table and bench. We envisioned some teens down here after school, lounging and staying out of trouble:)
You’re probably curious about that play space in the background– reveal of that coming soon!
Featured: Velvet Pillow in Meadow, Modern Dot in Grey, and Signature Leather in Camel.
Be sure to check out the video reveal of this basement! It shows you more of the spaces than I’ve revealed here and they are goooood!

Would you mind sharing the details for the grey carpet? Thank you!
Hello! I’m not sure where the builder sourced it from, but it’s a short pile modern pattern.

Beautiful and cool space! Would love to know what kind of carpet was used! TY!
Hi there! So sorry, the builder selected the carpet and we can’t remember what it is!
Where is the couch from?
