Kids rooms are such a treat to design. I love the process of diving into a little one’s world and creating a space that speaks to them, encourages them to imagine, and grows with them.
I was so honored when the lovely Jenica Parcell asked us to work on one of her twins’ rooms: Harris. Jenica is a lifestyle and fashion blogger who has also used her platform and following to raise money for infertility treatments for families in need of assistance. Her big heart is one of many reasons we love her so, and we feel so lucky to work on her home!
Harris was making the transition to big boy room. Originally we designed a space with all new furniture pieces, but after some thought, Jenica wanted to use his crib that transitioned to a full size bed. If you’re in a similar boat, this space will give you some good ideas for upgrading your toddler’s room to a space that is growing with them, while keeping the whimsy of childhood.
If you love this room and want a space fully designed with all items included, we’ve put together a SD Packaged Design for a room inspired by Harris’s! We’re offering it at a discount for a limited time. SD Packaged Designs give you everything you need to put a beautiful space together including floorplan, design boards, links to all products, DIY instructions, color guides, etc. We have designs for everything from bedrooms to bathrooms to family rooms. It’s a really economical option for someone wanting to do something yourself!
Harris loves all things space, astronauts, moons, etc. While I’m not big on themed rooms, I think there’s a way to balance a child’s loves and interests, keeping the room age appropriate, while giving them a space that they will still love 5 years from now.
Artwork is one of the easiest ways to incorporate things they love. For Harris, we found some darling art prints including our Stagg Design To the Moon print.
Of course our Stagg Design Chase Plaid Wallpaper in Sky is the star of the room. I love how it feels sophisticated, yet whimsical at the same time. We designed a wood moulding pattern, have them step-by-step instructions, and Jenica and her husband, Tyler, did it themselves! Bravo!
And while you’re checking out kids rooms, dive into a few more cute boys’ rooms!
Sending you positive vibes for the week ahead! I swear I can feel spring in the air!
