We’re demanding a lot more of our homes these days. Living, working, schooling, activity-practicing, and so on, it’s all happening a lot more within the same walls during this time and I’m here for it. I’m a homebody by nature anyway and I love maximizing function in a home without compromising style.
In Project Western Roots, what was originally a music room with occasional office functionality became a full-on-work-from-home necessity for our clients. However, it still needed to function as a music room for the kids to practice, and a quiet spot for curling up with a book, taking a call or zoom meeting, etc.
It’s not a huge space, so we needed to be strategic. The desk had to be large, but not too large. The chair needed to be comfortable but couldn’t take up too much space. I think we got the balance just right. It’s perfectly beautiful, but not fussy.
We had a custom cushion made for the piano bench in Anna Floral Dusty Pink. It feels fresh and airy.

Have a wonderful week! It sort of feels a bit eery– one year ago, this was our last week of normalcy before the pandemic changed our lives. Cheers to bright days ahead, and spring on the way!
