As we prepare to launch into demolition at the Stagg Mountain Modern, we asked Jon for his list of tools every DIYer needs to have in their tool chest and got some key tips for a smooth home remodel.
Before getting started on a big renovation or demolition, it’s important to do your research. You want to make sure you know as much as you can about the job you are embarking on. Spending a little bit of time researching can save you a headache and help you have a good outcome. We have never had better resources than we do now! With a quick google search or Youtube tutorial, you can get a wealth of information from professionals.
Make sure to keep your job site clean, it really does make a difference! Not only does having a clean job site help you identify any potential issues that need to be fixed but it creates a much safer environment for everyone involved. It’s important to keep general safety in mind during any big project, but especially if you have little kids running around.
Lastly, let’s talk about tools. The brand makes a BIG difference. Of course, there are sometimes cheaper options out there, but you want to make sure you are using a high-quality tool that can get the job done right. Going along with that, make sure you are buying the right tool for the job. Tools are so specialized that your job can be really difficult with the wrong tool. Eliminate any room for frustration and make the job a lot simpler by using the right tool for the project. There are great resources out there for renting tools if buying isn’t in your budget. Places like Home Depot offer rental services at a fraction of the cost. Check around in your area for local rental companies that offer tools specific to your needs! Below we have listed Jon’s must-have tools to help you get started on your own project!
