Anna’s Big Girl Bedroom

November 7, 2019

It’s hardly a secret how much I love putting kids’ rooms together.  Every time I get a little person client project I jump for joy.  And with three little clients of my own, it’s always a fun challenge for me to design spaces that fit each child’s personality.  Today I’m excited to finally reveal my little Anna’s Big Girl Bedroom.

Stagg Design Vivienne Floral Pillows, Modern Dot Pillow, and Brushstroke Plaid Fabric for the cushion

Anna has quite the personality.  At 4 1/2 and the middle child, she keeps us laughing (or me crying) all day long.  She is smart as a whip, a prankster, super duper sweet or super duper sassy, but always an original.  When she was in the nursery, I selected a really sophisticated color palette: blush pinks and deep greens. I carried on with those colors when we moved her room to make room for her little sister and I used one of our most beloved Stagg Design patterns as a launching point: the Vivienne Floral in Blush.  (yes, it’s named after her younger sister but it’s ok, there’s a floral print named after her too!)

Her room has a kind of weird alcove so rather than waste that space or make it feel awkward by putting a piece of furniture there, we built a bench and desk (tutorial coming soon!).  It fills the space perfectly and gives it purpose and character.  If you’ve got an awkward space, built-ins of some kind are always my go-to.  It makes the corner feel like it’s on purpose, don’t you think?

I found this chair at IKEA, then had a custom slipcover made in our Grey Modern Dot fabric from Stagg Design, as well as a bench cushion made in our Brushstroke Plaid in Blush.  Along with our Vivienne Floral in Blush pillows and a Modern Dot pillow, it gives such a custom, designer look.  I just love how it all came together!

I hung a darling dress my aunt made for her when she was tiny on a hook.  It is one of my favorite ways to give a child’s room a sense of history and ownership– display their itty bitty clothes.  This hook is similar.

The rug in her room is vintage.  I found it on Ebay when she was in the nursery.

Let’s talk about her bed.  It’s a headboard I found at a furniture outlet, then had a slipcover made again in our Vivienne Floral in Blush.  The Meadow Velvet Pillows are from our Stagg Design Velvet Collection, and the little pillow is our Brushstroke Plaid in Blush.  We worked so hard with our collections to make sure you can pair everything together with ease, creating a custom look without the hassle.

Her dresser was a vintage find that we repainted in a dark forest green. I love the sophistication it brings to her sweet room.

I’m having fun digging through projects at the #staggreno and sharing more about our massive renovation.

Happy weekend!

Jen
