Every parent needs a space all their own. A space to store adult stuff and do adult things… like pay the bills and complete that Amazon Prime purchase, am I right people? This is that spot for our clients: the home office for Project Modern Family.
This is a small but mighty space. The built-ins, designed by Tiek Built Homes, added a lot of opportunity for styling. Our clients have a lot of books. To make it both functional and pretty, our favorite combination, we color styled the books. This is a simple way to style your books: group books based on color, then place them on the shelves in a sort of ombre pattern.
The olive paint color on the shelving and baseboards, along with the color on the shelves, made a pretty bold and fun statement. We kept the rest of the styling simple and clean, incorporating a lot of leather, wood, and metal.
The little chest against the wall was so special to the family. It’s a family heirloom, filled with keepsakes from a child who passed shortly after birth. Our client was almost apologetic about it at first, saying we didn’t have to use it in the room’s design, but it absolutely belongs in there.
We added in a cowhide and a leather daybed for lounging. Right after install, our clients said they found themselves hanging out in there a lot– music to our ears! It’s comfortable and relaxed.
The big window with sunlight streaming in makes for the perfect sunny spot to curl up with a good book.
Our design client calendar is booking into 2020. We would love to hear more about your project! You can tell us about it here to get the conversation started.
