I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: the entry of your home sets the tone for the rest of your house. It’s like an invitation to a party. It gives you an idea how everything else is going to go for the rest of the event.
These spaces may seem inconsequential: a hallway, an entry, a view across the home to another room. But these “in between” spaces are opportunities to add flow, continuity, tone, and personality to a home.
Today I’m taking you inside those spaces at Project Western Roots, and showing you how these are areas that greatly contribute to the overall feel and soul and history in this home.
Starting in the entry, this rustic console table, X benches, earthy lamp and vases, and of course the spurs, really let you know what kind of home you’re walking into. Comfortable. Not fussy. Fun. Down to earth. All adjectives I would use to describe the home, and our clients. That’s when you know you’ve got it right.
I love this look down the hallway to toward the entry and home office/music room. We placed a leather bench in front of the large windows to invite you to take in the views.
There are several beautiful hallways in this home, and we used them to showcase some of the family’s beautiful art collection, which is both sentimental and full of history. We added long rugs to warm up what could otherwise be cold.
The basement, if you can call it that, is walkout and full of bright light. We used the landing at the bottom of the stairs for family photos and an unreal sculptural piece of artwork that had sentimental significance to the family. I love bringing pieces like this out into the light, highlighting them, and making them focal points in a home to be celebrated.
Be sure to check out the rest of this beautiful home! Still a few more spaces to reveal from this project. We are in the midst of several big projects without much to share visually yet, so it’s fun to show a finished product like this home!
The outdoor spaces are yet to come, just in time for spring planning inspiration! Happy first week of spring!
