A rug is kind of a big commitment. They’re usually pricy, and they’re a huge focal point in a room. When buying a rug, there’s a lot to consider: color, pile, size, pattern, material, shape, and the list goes on. When I was selecting a rug for the living room, I went around and around with all of those things.
I knew I wanted something neutral, soft, and something that would brighten the space. The couch is gray, the chairs are citrine, so I felt like white/ivory was a natural choice. I’ve long wanted a moroccan rug and had my eye on this one right from the start. I love it so much. But I worried the dark might be a little too dark for what I was looking for after seeing it in person in store.
Then I found this one on RugsUSA and loved it. I bought it during one of their big sales and ended up with 55% off! Sweet deal. They’re having one of those sales right now. They come around so often, I always think it’s worth waiting for one.
The rug is so so soft and comfortable, and I think is the perfect pattern for the space. I worried about the shag making it too informal, but I think the marble coffee table and mirror dress it up and everything balances out.
Speaking of great deals on rugs, have you seen some of these?
This one is such a pretty color and pattern and wow, what a steal!
Great quality and color selection for this next one at a really great price.
An inexpensive sheepskin option like the one in my master bedroom.
Every hallway or long room would look amazing with this.
This is so very beautiful. And I can’t believe it’s so cheap!
The pattern on this one is so lovely.
I think rugs make the room feel so much more finished and cozy.
Have you checked out the Home Tour section of withHEART yet? You can look at befores and afters of every room in my home, as well as see exactly how I did it. It’s so fun for me to look back at everything before we started remodeling. It was a completely different house.
Happy weekend!
That rug looks fantastic in your living room, but I recently had a really nasty experience with Rugs USA and wanted to make sure everyone knew about their crazy “exchange” policy. I ordered a rug and was sent the wrong color, but I was told that they can’t send me the right one. I have to file a claim, wait for them to email me a shipping label, ship the incorrect rug back, wait for that to be processed, and then I’ll be given a refund. If I choose to, I can use the refund to buy the correct rug — again. I did a quick Google search and it sounds like a lot of people have run into this issue. I wish I had known before I ordered, so I’m just spreading the word!
Jen, I love your website. I loved watching you on KSL. Can you give me tips on keeping rugs in place when they are on top of carpet?
Thank you so much, Susan!! I would suggest making sure you get a thicker rug. Thin rugs tend to move much more on carpet. You can also get a rug pad that will help hold it in place.
Hi Jen,
I love this rug, and I’ve looked at it multiple times on different sites. My fear is the light color. I have two boys so I’m afraid of spills and foot traffic. How well has yours held up? Have you had any spills or other stains you’ve had to clean?
Thanks!
Hi Jen,
I thought I posted a comment yesterday, but I don’t think it went through. How has this rug held up? I’ve been eyeing this rug, but I’m scared to purchase it because I have two boys, 7 and 3. I look at that light color and think stain magnet!
Hi Amber! Sorry, I’ve been traveling and haven’t had as much internet access. I haven’t spilled anything on it yet, but it is holding up great so far. Ruby plays on it, it’s comfortable, and it hides dirt well. I hope that is helpful! Thanks for reading!
