I asked, and you answered. Your stories of love came pouring in, and I so loved reading them. They inspired me, made me laugh, made me tear up, and made me even more grateful for that man of mine. I can’t wait to share them with all of you!
I’m kicking off the LOVE STORY series with the very first submission I received: KELLY + ZAK from South Ogden, Utah.
Their story is a testament of timing. They had known each other for years, but every time their lives crossed, something– or someone– got in the way. The first hurdle– he had to see her in a different light. Kelly was the little sister of one of Zak’s friends, and as friends go, little sisters were off limits. Several years later, they were reunited at a BBQ with some mutual friends and as the night wore on, they eventually found themselves alone. Zak suddenly saw Kelly not as the younger sister of a buddy, but as the woman who could be the one.
That was 14 years ago, and they’ve never looked back. Three energetic boys joined their brood, and Zak still makes Kelly’s heart leap.
“He would literally give the shirt of his back to anyone,” she wrote. “He’s the guy that pulls over on the side of the road if he sees someone that might need help–even if we were on our way to the hospital and I was in labor! He is the most service oriented person I’ve ever met.”
They face each challenge as a team and with a strong dose of laughter. Kelly works outside the home, so raising their boys into men and household chores are a joint effort.
“He is THE designated bathroom cleaner. He does an amazing job, and I feel like I won the lottery letting him have that chore!”
Gotta love a man who’s not a afraid to tackle a toilet. Their children and their faith are their number one priority, and though they’ve faced their share of struggles, they’ve never felt like they’ve had to stick it out. Kelly wrote, “I feel blessed every day to have him by my side.”
Each day is filled with laughter. Every hardship is faced with humor. They know they can get through anything together, as a team. And the occasional much needed date night.
I’ll be posting one story each day for the next full week. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
And the winner of the ENTIRE CASE of Girl Scout cookies is….
Alex Crabtree who wrote: “This is the best giveaway ever! My favorite flavor is a 3 way tie between thin mints, samoas and tagalongs!”
