Nothing Down About It x Stagg Design Office Reveal

I believe your home should be many things: beautiful, functional, with-in your budget, but also it should be uniquely you. One of a kind. One in a million. This space embodies that completely. I’m thrilled to share our Nothing Down About It x Stagg Design Office reveal with you today!
Oakley Peterson, the positive force for good behind Nothing Down About It, is a powerful advocate, a fierce mama bear, a talented musician, and imperfectly perfect. She’s funny, kind, warm, and shares life’s ups and downs. She is drawn to bold colors and patterns. Her husband, Scott, is not. I had my work cut out for me putting a space together that not only married the married couple’s styles, but also suited their needs: a multi-use office space that serves as a workspace, a music room, craft room, and is pretty enough to greet guests the moment they walk in the home.
I got really personal with Oakley when designing this space. I wanted to know what colors she was drawn to, patterns, favorite flowers, favorite places, hometowns, things she just loved, etc. Her husband is super handy and had already built the desk and shelves when I entered the design process, so Jon and I designed some custom woodwork to complete the space. We then selected a paint that is Oakley’s favorite color: a deep, rich burgundy.
Didn’t Scott do a great job building that system? I selected the hardware and lighting, then once the woodwork in the entire space was complete, the paint went on, and I selected hardware, the swing arm sconces, and filled the shelves with vintage books, artwork, knickknacks, and things sentimental to them.
Let’s talk about the music elements. Oakley and her sisters were in a girl band (so cool, right?) and Scott is musically talented as well, so I wanted to find a way to not only make musical instruments accessible in the space, but also incorporate them into the design. I found some really awesome modern guitar hooks and they had no shortage of guitars to hang. We also put the cello in the corner.
