Thank you for your kind words over the playroom reveal yesterday! Today I’m sharing the first of many projects from that space and it’s really one of the easiest– the little mint peg princess shelf on her gallery wall.
I wanted a place to display her sweet little peg princess dolls we’ve been collecting for awhile. I was strolling through IKEA one day and came across this Bekvam unfinished birch spice rack.

I’ve been thinking of using it for little bookshelves somewhere, but thought it would be darling as the perfect place to house her peg dolls.
For this project I used the Benjamin Moore Ben line in Cool Mint (582). It’s an easy to apply paint that covers well, so it was perfect for this simple project. Cool Mint is the color of paint that was in Ruby’s nursery at our last house so it is a sentimental color and a little reminder of her baby days. Just look at itty bitty baby Ruby (sniffle, sniffle).
Because the rack was already unfinished, there was no prep other than a primer (also Ben). Just one coat of primer and one of paint and it was ready to hang. I rolled the parts I could, then touched up the other nooks and crannies with a brush.
I think Cool Mint is really the perfect mint color. It’s soft, not overwhelming, and such a pretty hue.
We hung it just low enough that she can reach it herself, yet it still looks like part of the gallery wall.
Benjamin Moore has a fantastic giveaway for withHEART readers today– 5 gallons of Regal Select paint (the line I used in #projectpaintitall for that jaw-dropping kitchen/dining/living transformation) in the color and finish of your choice (a $249.95 value). All you need to do is leave a comment here telling me which room/project you would use it for, and a winner will be chosen at random and announced Friday. Good luck!
Also, check out the #OnlyThisCan hashtag to see more amazing projects using Benjamin Moore paint.
The guys at my Benjamin Moore location know me by name and even know my kids’ names and give Ruby a piece of candy whoever we go in. Now that’s love.
If you’re wondering, I bought the peg princesses from this Etsy shop. I’ve already ordered two more for Ruby’s stocking.
Up tomorrow I’m sharing a fun Christmas DIY that is super sweet. Hint, hint. I’m cheesy. That’s all.
Until then, my friends….

Good morning Jennifer, I will be painting the kitchen, living room, hallways, and the ceiling:)) Thank you so much for this giveaway:))
I would paint my bedroom and bathroom. After painting everything else in the house, why do we always put our spaces last?! Darling playroom. It must be a magical for your little ones.
Those dolls are adorable. So is that little pink door in the wall. 🙂
We live in a rental we can’t paint, but I know my MIL has been wanting to update her late 70s/early 80s front room and entryway for while now. I’ll probably give the paint to her.
Thanks for the giveaway! I would paint my office, master bedroom, and all my kitchen cabinets. Lots of paint needed! 🙂
I love the peg dolls!
I would paint our family room, hallway, laundry room and guest bathroom. All these well used areas are in need of a fresh updated color.
We just moved into a new room and the kids are eager to paint their rooms! I would love to be able to do this for them! Gray giveaway!
I mean great giveaway! 😉
We are in the process of renovating our basement into a laundry room/office. I would paint that!
I would paint my front room and entry. We have lived in our house almost a year and a half and we haven’t painted it yet! We love Benjamin Moore paint!
My office aka Man Cave!
our whole house is painted the same color. i honestly don’t mind it, but i’d love to take baby steps and paint a bedroom or two!
Basement remodel
I’d paint my living room and kitchen (and maybe even the fireplace) Simply White.
I would paint our bathroom (it’s the only room of our house I haven’t painted) and our living room (because I am ready for a change). It’s crazy but I love painting!
I’m getting ready to paint my kitchen and living room after we redo the floors. How fun!
The playroom is wonderful! And beautiful!
I would paint my downstairs living room/toy room/hallway area. Right now it is the mixed shades of buttery yellow, red, orange and a dark gray. (The old homeowners choices not mine) I would love to give it all a nice neutral gray base just like I have on my main floor….that way all my girls artwork can stand out. Also I really want to let my girls pick out a bunch of fun colors to create a focal wall in their toy room and do a cool geometric pattern! That way they get a voice in the painting as well!!!
My master and dining room are in major need of painting! What a cute idea with the peg dolls!
I would paint my kitchen!
We are in the process of looking for our first home and WA to something that needs work, since that is what I love to do! I would paint my future kitchen cabinets and maybe add a fun diy stencil pattern on a ceiling or wall as well!
I would paint every wall in the house! Just purchased a house and in the spec sheet it states that it was “freshly painted”, but honestly there isn’t one wall that has been touched in 15 years since the previous owners purchased it!! Love your house and all the reveals.
Enjoy!!
This playroom is so darling! If I won the paint I would use it to repaint my daughter’s room, our hallway, and some other little spaces. We bought our first home in June and I’m ready to change some of the colors that were here before us.
Guest bedroom. Only room that has not been painted in our 11 years here.
I love Benjamin Moore paints. My brother is a professional painter and that is all he uses. Best coverage.
Great giveaway! I would paint the master bedroom and bathroom. It’s the last rooms in the house that haven’t been painted.
I would definitely paint my baby girl’s room a.k.a the nursery. I painted it grey immediately when we bought the house before we even moved in. The room is the smallest room I’ve ever seen in my life but it has the most natural light. From morning till the sun goes down, it is always the brightest room and I’ve been itching to paint it white after seeing your client’s makeover and the playroom!
What a great play room! I would paint my entire kitchen and breakfast room since it is all in the same drab beige color from the 1980’s – the cabinets too!
love the way you used the shelf! would paint a few of our bathroooms.. they could definitely use some sprucing up!
I will soon embark on painting all of my kitchen cabinets! I’m looking to brighten up my very 70s kitchen, and this would be a great start!
I would paint my formal living and dining rooms and master bath. All are currently still builder beige.
My living room and dining room desperately need painting.
I would paint my hallway and bathroom.
Oh WOW what a cool giveaway. My husband and I are approaching 70 soon, but we are young at heart! We currently live in Central FL, but we are preparing for a move to KC,MO next week.
We are buying a house that has been quite unloved and we will tackle painting the whole house, inside and out. OURSELVES!
I have run back and forth to my local BM and have chosen my key paint colors already!!!
This giveaway has come at the perfect time!!!!! I am, carefully, jumping for joy!
You won!!! Email me at jen@withheart.com! Congrats!
I just painted my kitchen, dining room, half bath and hall with BM (Regal) owl gray – LOVE IT! Now the adjacent rooms are needing some love, Would be great to complete the first floor with this fantastic paint and color.
i actually have 2 rooms I want to paint – the room that will be my woman cave and our master bathroom
Such beautiful spaces! I dream of a kitchen remodel but I think I want to wait a year or so until I can afford to make it more of a dream space instead of just “new”. Therefore I would use the paint in my front room, where I just uncovered and renovated the original craftsman fireplace and shelves. Well, The shelves are just white but I would love to add a pretty pop of color on the bookcases and repaint the room from tan to a soft grey.
I would paint my living room, kitchen area…needs it!
I want to paint my moms entire house for her for Christmas as well as some interior doors I bought for her! Thanks for the great opportunity:)
Love everthing you do!
I will paint my front door, entrance, playroom and entry bathroom ! I want to see the magic of paint. Thanks for this giveaway.
I love everything you do!
I would like to paint my front door, entrance, playroom and entry bathroom.
Thanks to you and BM for this giveaway!
Love your website and your ideas with older homes. AND, I love Benjamin Moore paint. I’m ready to paint kitchen walls and cabinets the same color to eliminate the contrast that I’ve loved and had for years (and tie in tile and counter tops!). Thanks for your generosity toward your readers!
I am in the planning/designing stages to upgrade two of the bathrooms in my house. I would LOVE to win this paint to create modern stylish bathrooms!!
I will definitely be painting the Master Bedroom along with the Master Bathroom. The beige needs to go!
This room is gorgeous. Love these paints. We just moved into a 1967 home that was somewhat updated but the kitchen has classic oak cabinets, white tile and cream walls. So my walls are begging to be painted navy blue! It’s a small kitchen that really needs a pop 🙂 I’m dying to paint my bathroom that needs to be restored the same navy!
Love your beautiful home! I would love to use this paint for our three bedrooms and two bathrooms in serious need of paint!
Hi Jennifer! We just purchased a new home and will be moving in a few days before Christmas. We’ll be removing wallpaper and painting most rooms but will be starting with our two kiddos and the stairwell. Thank you!
We have lived in our house for 2 years and have painted every square inch inside and out. Trim walls doors, you name it… It has been painted by my hubby and I. Well all except for our bedroom and master bath. Our Bedroom is the last room to be painted and so desperately needs some BM Love!!!
I’m looking to buy a house soon, so I would use the paint to paint every room in my new house!
I would love to paint my combined formal living + dining room. It’s very beige right now.
I would start with our bedroom, which is a weird blue that I loved at the time, but now… not so much. 😉
My boyfriend and I just bought our first home 3 months ago, because I am still attending college all renovations to our new home have been put off for a couple years. I would love to win the Benjamin Moore to paint our living room and kitchen. This would help to make our new home feel more like “our home”. Thank you for this giveaway!!
My email was incorrect in the previous post. This post has my correct email. Just in case I win 🙂
We would be getting new master suite paint! Thanks for the opportunity Jen! (& Benjamin Moore) 🙂
What a great give away! thank you! I would paint our living room! I chose a gray paint when we moved in that reads REALLY purple in that room, and would love to paint it a crisp clean white:)
Where to begin! Probably my family room!! Or maybe my bedroom, this is a toughy.
We just bought our first home 2 years ago and have ugly brown walls! I want them gone so bad! I would paint my Kitchen, dining room, family room, and hallways. (Basically every room in my house) 🙂 I would love to win this giveaway!
We’re moving into a new house this week! It is beige….so I want to paint the whole thing. So EVERY room!
I close on my new house in 9 days and will be painting everything. But I would use this to paint all of the main living areas, hall, closets, and ceilings bright, clean, beautiful white.
Well we are just about to start building…so all the rooms. Hah! Probably the playroom and laundry room first though. Those rooms need some vibrancy I feel like!
We just bought our first home. It needs lots of painting! We’ve finished the main living areas so next I’d start with my office. I have a hankering for black planks!
Swooning over this room! Painting priorities for our new construction house would definitely be our 4 year old daughters room, the playroom and her little brother/sisters room – arriving next summer!
Master bedroom really needs a makeover!
