I don’t get out much. Nowadays with three little ones aged four and under, a trip to Target solo or an uninterrupted shower sounds like a vacation. That being said, we get a date night in when we can, but most often our nights out are more like nights in.
Today I’m teaming up with Wayfair to share my perfect dinner & and a movie date night at home and it goes a little something like this:
Here’s a breakdown of my perfect dinner and movie night at home. Let’s start with dinner. I love Indian food but it’s a tough option for the girls (no kid friendly options) so takeout to the rescue. Have you guys ever used Grub Hub? There are a few similar services out there as well, but some good friends of ours use food delivery services all the time and they’re life changing. There’s so much more that can be delivered to your door than pizza.
Next up: show selection. Jon and I tend to be binge watchers. We don’t have a lot of time to watch tv, so when we do, we make it good and when it’s good we will stay up all night long watching back to back episodes. Sherlock is one of our favorites. Benedict Cumberbatch is Jon’s man crush and I’m a sucker for mysteries.
When dinner is wrapped up, pull out a few goodies and settle in for the entertainment. An Izze soda is always on tap. Also, the best microwave popcorn: Quinn. I’ve only been able to find it at Target. No chemicals or preservatives or even plastic in the microwave bag. You mix in the oil and butter after it pops. We love it.
I’m not a major sweets person but chocolate covered cinnamon bears are my favorite candy. But it has to be milk chocolate.
A cozy blanket is a must. At our house we have several Saranoni blankets and they are the softest, cuddliest, most luxurious blankets in all the land. In fact, Ruby and Anna have become spoiled and insist on using them every night for story time.
What’s your ideal dinner and movie night? Are you a homebody like me? I don’t know about you, but I’ll take a movie night at home to a theatre experience 9 times out of 10. Pajamas and takeout are where it’s at.
