BHG Stylemakers Workshop Recap

Phew. What a past few weeks it has been. I rarely have this many trips and events in such a short amount of time, but I just got back from PEI and NYC and I have two more trips scheduled before October 10th. And a style challenge. And another major life event I’ll be sharing very soon. It’s going to be interesting.
I was in NYC for the Better Homes and Gardens Stylemaker Workshop and flew home Friday night. It’s a full day of learning from editors at BHG and it was truly a dream. Shortly after I was invited to attend, an editor asked if I could fly out a few days earlier to participate in a Style Challenge ala Project Runway style. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
Myself, Sarah Dorsey, and Stacy Risenmay (if you’re not familiar with these two, you should definitely check them out) arrived at the BHG offices Tuesday to start a whirlwind adventure and what an adventure it was. Two days, a budget, a film crew, and a twist which had us all cursing under our breath. It was so fun and stressful all at the same time! I’ll share more details next week when you can vote for your favorite finished project out of the three.
The day after we finished the style challenge, we attended the Stylemaker Workshop event. I attended some amazing classes on photo styling, planning, and a class from one of my major design crushes, Eddie Ross, on buffet and bar cart styling. I learned so much and can’t wait to implement a lot of it here on withHEART.
Nate Berkus was in attendance as well. I had to stop myself from being a crazed super fan so instead settled for a photo from a few rows back and a question. Can I also add he is every bit as adorable in person and a little smaller than I anticipated. Like he could just fit in my suitcase and come home with me. Will you, Nate? I know we’d be BFF.
I’ve been gearing up for some big changes/announcements/excitement and I’m finally ready to spill the beans. Look for the first in a series of announcements on Wednesday– eeeeee! I’m also kicking off two new series this week, with the first tomorrow.
Great things are happening and every time I find myself exhausted or overwhelmed, I remember how lucky I am to have this creative outlet, how grateful I continue to be for each and every one of you who join me in this journey, and satisfied I know I’ll be when I finish a project:) That’s what it’s all about, my friends.
Here’s to a great week, a sweet reunion with my little family after a long week away– and sleeping in my own bed!
