The time has come– it’s moving week. It feels bittersweet to round a corner and see an empty corner or moving boxes half full. We’ve start pulling things off the walls and packing our belongings. We know this is the right thing for our family, we know great things await with a home that has the potential to be so good for us, but in this moment it feels kind of heavy.
It’s hard for me to put into words what this home has meant to us. Yes, home is wherever we are all together, but our family has grown so much within these walls. This is the only home our girls remember. This is where we welcomed Vivie home from the hospital, and Anna was three months old when we moved in. We’ve had all of our first days of school here, all of our lost teeth here, all of our Christmas mornings as a family of five here. Everywhere you look, you see our family’s stamp. Jon and I poured all of our blood, sweat, tears, creativity, hopes and dreams into this home and it more than delivered. I still love every design decision as much as I did when I made it. We tried to think through everything to make this home as functional as it is beautiful.
As sad as we are to say goodbye, we are excited for the new owners to start their own chapter here. They are lovely and say they are so excited to move in! That brings some peace for us and we spend our final week in our home. We put together a little goodbye video sharing some of our sentiments!
The girls are apprehensive about moving. Jon and I are too! It’s a big change all around, but we are already getting them very involved in the design process which I think is helping them get excited about what’s ahead. Ruby already has created a folder titled “Ruby’s New House Stuff” where she is mocking up floor plans and wallpaper patterns. She’s the best.
We’ll be sharing a lot of the moving process on my instagram feed @jenniferstagg . This isn’t our first rodeo, but it is our first rodeo with three kids so we’re taking some of what we’ve learned, and also trying to find the best ways to make this as smooth as it can be for the girls.
It’s going to be a crazy week around here, but as we always say when times are stressful with a big project “The only way out is through!”
Here we go!
