Non-traditional Holiday Tablescape (+ giveaway!)

How is it the week of Christmas??  I tell ya, this season has flown by.  We’ve been doing quite a bit of entertaining over here lately (with the biggest party I’ve ever hosted this week.  Eeeeeek for 40 people!).  Last week we had some neighborhood friends over for a little dinner gathering and I went for a non-traditional holiday tablescape and color palette.   IMG_7573

Zestt sent me these beautiful earthy sculptured gray dishes and they got my wheels turning.  Not every holiday table has to be red, white, and green (though I do love traditional Christmas colors as well).  For this table, I went with more jewel tones– pinks, grays, rich greens.

I added in some milk glass throughout the dinner to add a little vintage with the modern dishes.  Rather than one centerpiece, I opted for two with some vintage gold candlesticks in the center, then two bird candlesticks (available here and here)  to incorporate the green on either side.  The flowers are a Whole Foods grocery find.  Love that grocers stock beautiful flowers year round.

Originally the table was set for 8, but at last minute a couple had to cancel (sick child) so I moved a few things around to make it 6.

The plates, salad plates, and mugs are all from Zestt (gorgeous quality and super affordable and there are also bowls), the flatware is this set I’ve used many a time before.  The goblets are a thrifted find.

I used these little Small Bites dishes for appetizers and they are the perfect size, plus easy to hold as you socialize.  They would be so cute for individually made appetizers as well, like bruschetta or sliders, don’t you think?

And is this cheese serving set not the most adorable thing you’ve ever seen in all your life?  Little mini mice guarding your cheese plate?  I die.

And folks, you have a chance to win the Guard the Cheese knife set right now.  Leave a message here telling me your favorite holiday dish to serve with your email address and you’re entered to win.  Winner announced Wednesday– check back!!!  I never did hear from the winner of all of that Benjamin Moore Paint….  weird.

Good luck!!

They’re also good stuffed with blue cheese. The cheese mice guards would approve, I’m sure!

beautiful! I have been looking for a set of plates that look handcrafted and these are very lovely. I am hoping to find in a speckled finish. The cheese server is adorable, too. My favorite holiday dish to serve is easily a barbecued turkey. Such a favorable twist on a classic dish and great for holidays in the warm southwest!

    Oooh, lots to pick from!!

I tried white chocolate covered cranberries for the first time this Thanksgiving and they were a huge hit. Easy to make, but timeless looking in a glass dish.
