Hello friends! The house is really moving along now. It’s so exciting to see progress! But before we could tackle anything, we had to put in the additions.
As you may remember, the original kitchen was pretty bad.
It was small, closed off, dysfunctional, and had little room for even a small dining table. It was so cramped in fact, I had a really hard time getting a good photo of just how small it was. Also,
We had an idea to knock out a bedroom next to the kitchen, add an addition, and make the whole space into a great room.
We worked with our architect to map out a plan:
1) tear out two exterior walls
2) add an addition off the back of the house
3) add vaulting to the roof line
4) tear out a wall to a bedroom, expanding the space even more
5) add a pantry
6) add huge windows and french doors
We thought this would be best explained visually in a kitchen addition time-lapse video. Getting the video was pretty tricky. Every time we worked on this portion of the house, Jon had to run up to the house and mount a go-pro camera to a tree in the exact same spot. It was well worth it, because the video is so cool! If only it went this quickly in real time.

I can’t tell you what a big difference this all made. This room is already looking so amazing!
And today, the snow is back with a vengeance. It’s like winter decided to wait until April 15th. We are used to whacky spring weather around here, but it makes it a little more worrisome when your roof isn’t finished but the drywall is…. Here’s praying it doesn’t leak!
