Playroom Reveal at the #staggreno

November 29, 2015

I’m downright giddy about today’s post.  Kid spaces are my fave and a kid space in my own home that puts the fun in functional?  Well, let’s just say I’m like my 3-year-old will be on Christmas morning.  It’s playroom reveal day!

Just for kicks before we launch into the playroom reveal after, let’s take a walk back in time (waaaaaaaaaay back in design time) to the original space when we bought the joint.  I give you the former formal dining room (and a bonus is the before video, just so you get the full scope of the transformation):

Where to begin.  How about the wallpaper that Jon decided we should just replace all of the sheetrock so we didn’t have to attempt to remove it?  Or maybe the carpeting and low ceiling?  Or how about the window you weren’t seeing anything out of because of the ginormous tree right outside of it?

Clearly, we had our work cut out for us.  Good thing we’re not scared off by a massive project, eh?

Ok, let’s talk about what we did to this place just to get it ready to start decorating:  we raised the roof and added a funky modern pitch (remember how whacky it was without a roof for a few days?), we cut a big window, we designed and built some super cool built-in shelves and a window seat (tutorial coming soon!), we added black modern glass doors and then we were ready to add all of the finishing touches.  Phew!  It makes us tired (again) just thinking about all of it.  In fact Jon and I were just reminiscing today about how this time last year I was pregnant and we were demoing the heck out of the house in the cold.  Crazy times.  But I digress….

Let’s get to the big reveal, shall we?  Then I’ll get into a few more details.  Starting with the video tour that also shares a lot of the inspiration and heart (naturally) that went into this room.  Drum roll, please….

I think the little ladies stole the show, don’t you?  And here are some room detail shots:

I’m going to get into every little detail starting tomorrow with one of the simplest DIY’s in the room.  It’s part of the collaboration with Benjamin Moore (remember #projectpaintitall ?  Worth revisiting, ya’ll).

I used Benjamin Moore Super White on the walls, shelves, moulding, and ceiling because I love it so very much.  But for the project I’m sharing tomorrow, I used a different color and type of paint.  Any guesses what it is?  I’ll spill the beans tomorrow and have a fantastic giveaway for you.  Free paint, anyone?  Oh yeah, baby.

I know I’ll get a bunch of questions about where everything is from and I promise I’ll break it all down for you, but until then I’ll leave you with a couple product links.  It is cyber Monday, after all.  I’m sure some of it is on sale!
